Anyone who has been on holiday in France, Belgium or pretty much anywhere in Western Europe may have, at some stage, slept on a Clic-Clac Sofa Bed this style of sofa bed makes a great option if you are looking for something that is robust, easy to use and good enough for everyday use.

Over the years we have placed these Sofa Beds into private homes, letting properties and (gasp!) student lets and they have stood the test of time well. As with everything you buy it pays to spend a bit extra on getting a well made Clic-Clac where each component is renewable, i.e. you can replace the mattress, cover or clic-clac mechanism without having to buy a totally new sofa bed!
The Clic-Clac we supply is fully UK made using a Belgium made mechanism and comes with a choice of mattress thickness depending if you need it for guest or everyday use. Follow the link to our website for full details:

Not really a direct futon discussion but I thought this article was interesting. Google have a monopoly here in the UK which would, perhaps, not be allowed in any other industry. Why not spend 5 mins reading this article from the BBC, is it time to look at the alternatives, after all who needs to know about Tesco's and five entries for Gumtree that are adverts that have expired? Is Google loosing the way?

Over the years I know many people have purchased Sofa Bunk sets and what a great idea they have been, we've sold some different models over the years including the original Jay-Be Sofa Bunk, many of which are still around today, in fact we've just given our old one at home away after 12 years of use and it was still going strong!

Anyway, as I'm sure you will know if you have a sofa bunk the futon mattress on the sofa can need replacing after a few years and, you'll be pleased to know, this is not a problem as, here at The Futon Shop, we have a selection of futon mattress types and sizes to suit Sofa Bunks of all types.

If you follow the link below you can view these on our website. If you are unsure what to look for the please give us a call from the number on our website. Before you call us can I suggest that you open the sofa into the bed position and measure the size of the bed (width and length) and also check if the sofa / bed base uses metal mesh / poles or wood 'arched' (or 'sprung') slats for the support. Once you've done that just give us a call!

One of the most common questions we get asked concerns how a futon mattress feels to use as an everyday bed......
Well all our futon mattresses are manufactured down here in Devon using a variety of filling types such as woolfelt, lambswool, coir and, sometimes, polyester or foam cores. The typical behaviour of a new futon mattress tends to give a fairly soft, 'squidgy', feel when the futon is new, fresh out of the bag, but as you start to use the futon mattress the fillings will compress increasing the firmness. After a couple of weeks you will notice the difference as your futon gains the firm but supportive feel you are used to experiencing from a futon mattress.
We would also recommend that regular turning of your futon would be good practice, each time we change our bedding at home we rotate our futon end to end and upside down, this helps even out the wear on the futon. You may also find that as the compression takes effect your futon mattress develops a 'person shaped' pit in it which is common place and will even out with use.
Of course, if you would like to discuss any particular areas of futon mattress use please feel free to contact us through our website...
